William Tanuwijaya

          (1)William Tanuwijaya was born in Pematang Siantar, 11th November 1981. (1)He is an Indonesian businessman who is also the founder of Tokopedia, an online (2)buying and selling platform in Indonesia.
          After high school, (1)William's father asked him (2)to continue (3)his education in Jakarta. Although (2)coming from families with mediocre economic conditions, (1)William's parents are very concerned with education. (1)They want William (2)to get a better education so that he can get a better life.
          Armed with parents's (2)blessing and high spirits, William finally underwent (3)his first experience out of North Sumatra. (1)He traveled by sea for 4 days and three nights from Belawan to Tanjung Priok. Then (1)he studied at Bina Nusantara University.
          Unfortunately in the second year of the lecture, (3,1)his father fell ill and required him to work as a 24 hours internet cafe keeper near the campus location.
          At that time, (1)he got the privilege to use the internet for free every day. (1)This led to (3)his love for the internet, especially the digital world.
          After graduated in 2003, (1)William wanted (2)to follow his love for the digital world by (2)working in the internet companies like Google and Facebook.
          The absence of the offices of the two giant internet companies, made (3)him work in several software development companies such as TelkomSigma and Sqiva Systems after previously (2)working as a game developer at Bolehnet.
          In 2006 (1)he worked as an IT & Business Development Manager at Indocom Mediatama. From here the idea arises (2)to have (3)his internet company.
          In 2007, (1)the idea (2)to build Tokopedia emerged. Unfortunately, (1)he didn't have the funds (2)to realize the idea. (1)He was invited by Leontinus Alpha Edison to establish Tokopedia, an online buying and selling startup that connects sellers and buyers all over Indonesia for free.
          (1)Inspired by the world's internet companies, (1)William ventured (2)to start looking for investors. (1)This business is somewhat difficult because (1)he must accept many parties. Two years of (2)trying to convince many people, (1)William had (2)to accept the fact that (1)internet companies didn't have trust at the time. In addition, (1)currently also issued a verdict of chronic cancer. (1)William was demanded (2)to be the breadwinner of the family.
          William is not discouraged. (1)He kept trying (2)to convince people about the potential of an internet company. So in 2009, (1)Tokopedia was finally able (2)to run after (2)gaining the trust of the one financiers. (1)He gathered the country's best talents (2)to join Tokopedia, (2)convincing students at leading universities.
